From May 31 to June 2 2023, the 18th annual symposium ECOBIM and the 4th annual symposium EcotoQ will happen in Québec City. Participating members from France, Canada, Tunisia, Morroco, Switzerland, Algeria, Benin, and Belgium are expected. The concerted symposium organized by EcotoQ and ECOBIM will take place at the Centre Eau Terre Environnement of INRS; at Université TÉLUQ and at École nationale d’administration publique.
The international ECOBIM network brings together research teams from French speaking-countries around the world with bilateral collaborations in ecotoxicology in aquatic media over a transatlantic axis. The network is part of the economic and cultural field: aquacole resources exploiter, parks, aquariums, etc. A large place is offered to graduate students.
Research Center in Ecotoxicology of Québec is a strategic group of Canadian and international researchers in ecotoxicology financed by Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature technologies. The EcotoQ mission is to list the presence and becoming of many contaminants in the environment (water, air, soil, biota), and to study the effects on the fauna and flora. This is a unique group in the Province of Québec, complete with experts in environmental chemistry, biology and environmental engineering.
The symposium’s theme is « Les approches diagnostiques non-ciblées en écotoxicologie ».
We know there are multiple and various stressors on the environment and our lives. Our technological tools to measure the sources of these stressors and the effects on live organisms are performing and keep improving, new ones are developed. Each research project in ecotoxicology has precise questions, but the approaches by non-targeted analysis, biological, biochemical, of chemical analysis, are fundamental to the scientific strategy that answers these questions. Understanding and interpreting the phenomenal quantity of generated information is a challenge. This process qualified as global ecotoxicology will be the theme of the concerted symposium.
Neverless, all researches linked to ecotoxicology are welcome et can register in the sessions :
- Multistressors and global changes ;
- Chronic effects, multigeneration effects and polluants evolution;
- Ecotoxicology in ports and coastal zones;
- New tools in ecotoxicology;
- Macro, microplastiques and nanomaterials;
- Organic polluants; trace elements; emerging polluants;
- Biosurveillance;
- Neurotoxicity and behavioural effects of polluants, etc.
