Mission

EcotoQ is a strategic cluster of Canadian and international ecotoxicology researchers funded by FRQNT, Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies. EcotoQ’s mission is to document the presence and fate of various contaminants in the environment (water, air, soil and biota), and to study their effects on flora and fauna. This is a unique group in Quebec, made up of experts in environmental chemistry, biology and engineering. The cluster covers urban, industrial, agricultural and forest environments, lakes and rivers, wetlands, the St. Lawrence River – from the Great Lakes to the Gulf – and temperate environments from southern Quebec to the Arctic. Our group responds directly to the environmental research and solutions needs of major Quebec development initiatives such as the Northern Plan and the St. Lawrence Action Plan. EcotoQ is a driving force in fundamental research and the training of highly qualified personnel. In addition, it is the group of choice for providing the government, the public and the media with access to Quebec’s best expertise in environmental contamination..
